Chuck Mangione
Many don't realize that Chuck Mangione is more than just a pop fluglehorn player, but a great jazz trumpet player known for some great technique, creativity and imaginative playing in his jazz trumpet playing days. Without doubt, Chuck Mangione continues to play beautiful ballads on his fluglehorn, but that really is only one aspect of his playing. Chuck Mangione could improvise jazz as well as anyone back in the day.Chuck Mangione Jazz Flugelhorn Recording

Chuck Mangione Traditional Jazz Trumpet
To truly appreciate Chuck Mangione as more than a pop flugelhorn player with the sweet, warm sound, you have to dig back into the 1960's and listen to some of his earlier and more traditional jazz trumpet recordings. I've dug back into You Tube and done some exhaustive searches for these old recordings but cannot seem to find them. They are truly remarkable recordings which showcase his great talent before he became infamous for the pop flugelhorn sounds we know him for today.
